THE ABATE UPDATE T HE ABATE U P D A TE LOOK TWICE! ABATE of Oklahoma has began our “Share the Road” program in earnest and our first public display was on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 to the Sperry, OK high school. The new program will be rolling out to other schools and safety programs across the state of Oklahoma in the coming months. The chapters of ABATE of Oklahoma will be given instructor training courses and receive certifications so that there are certified instructions in multiple areas of the state so that the program can be shared with as much of the state as possible. If your school system or safety program would like to have the 6 Thunder Roads Magazine of OK/AR “SHARE the ROAD” program brought to you, please contact Jim “Radar” Koelle (see contact info below) to discuss the matter. A Call to Action to Save Lives ABATE of Oklahoma, a motorcycle safety organization, realized that an attempt must be made to correct the root of the problem - inattentive drivers of the “other” vehicles, ABATE developed a program modeled after the seat belt program - start early to teach the younger generations the habits of looking twice for motorcycles. The program was developed in conjunction with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office (OHSO). The Mission statement of ABATE of Oklahoma is to promote and defend motorcyclist’ freedom, safety and awareness through education and legislation to make Oklahoma the best place to ride!
