TULSA TOY RUN

ABATE of Oklahoma Tulsa Chapter opened their giant hearts and city , wide open for the 37th year in a row for the generously attended Tulsa Toy Run . The partnership between the United States Marines Toys for Tots Program and the nearly 5,000 riders who attended , brought in nearly 30,000 toys this year . The ride began at the Tulsa Fairgrounds and proceeded along spectator filled roadways to the Guthrie Green ( Brady District ) where the US Marines were there in uniforms loading the toys into the semi-truck as quickly as any good elves would . The best thing about the loading was hearing all the riders thanking the soldiers for their service . Christmas cheer and American Spirit make for a very rewarding day . The riders and the Marines were honored by the parade leaders , Department of Public Safety Commissioner , Michael Thompson as well as State Representative , Chuck Hoskin . These two gentlemen are both avid riders and are very active in assisting ABATE of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office Advisory Committee in pushing through recommendations made for riders by riders .
