PASTORS CORNER I find it a little bit funny that Easter 2018 is on Aprils’ Fool day. But in my story I want to focus on the tomb. Just imagine all the rumors Some known facts about April Fools’ Day (sometimes called All Fools’ Day). It is an annual celebration in some European and Western countries commemorated on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April Fool jokes expose their prank by shouting “April fool”. Some newspapers, magazines and other published media report fake stories, which are usually explained the next day or below the news section in small letters. Of course there was no such day in Jesus’s time on earth, but I thought I would just have a little fun creating my own April Fools’ Story. Just imagine the Jerusalem Times headlines. “King of Jews Crucified” or “He saves others but can’t save himself”. Just imagine the headlines of Hell’s Daily Journal. “Jesus is dead, buried, and the stone is rolled in place” or “Disciples lose leader. Now What?” floating around the city. Then on the first day of the week they go to the grave and He is gone! More rumors for sure. Headlines read “Missing Jesus” or “Thieves rob body from borrowed tomb”. Ok, that is enough of my stupidity. I just want to encourage you this Easter to celebrate the resurrection, knowing that Jesus is alive! He defeated death, hell, and the grave. He is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. For those that believe on him, He gives the power to become sons and daughters of God. Over the years I have believed my share of rumors and hoaxes. But I am convinced that Jesus died on a cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and rose again on the third day. And that is no April Fools’ Joke. I pray you have a safe, blessed and happy Easter. See you in the wind. Pastor T. The biblical account of the crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection can be found in Matthew chapters 27 and 28. 34 Thunder Roads Magazine Louisiana/Mississippi | April 2018 | www.thunderroadslams.com
