T
Arbour Month Drive
o all the residents who donated towards
the Thornhill Arbour Month Drive, thank
you! We also extend a huge thank you to
Gerrit from The Source Landscaping who
has donated generously towards this project.
Over 20 trees were pledged by residents which
added to the trees procured by the estate. The
main areas we identified for this project:
Valley Road Fence Line
Due to the shopping centre development, we
identified the need to create a green barrier along the Valley Road fence line. Most
of the trees that were donated by residents have been planted here to provide a
lush canopy, something far nicer to look at from the Community Centre p atio!
Community Centre Park
You may have noticed a couple of trees planted around the play area in the Com-
munity Centre park. All these trees are nut trees (Almond and Pecan nut) and we
hope that in a couple of years, when the trees start bearing nuts, our children will
have the joy of collecting raw, unprocessed nuts to eat.
YOUR
Gardens Road
There are a number of established
Privet trees along Gardens Road, from
Central Park to more or less Elm Street.
These trees have become unsightly and
no vegetation grows underneath.
Privets are also identified as Invasive
Species and according to legislation,
should be removed. Please refer to

this.

Once the Privets have been removed,
we will replace them with a lane of
Pom Pom Trees (above), which are
indigenous trees that flower in THORNHILL
summer,
MODDERFONTEIN

making them quite spectacular.
