TASS Dual Accredited
Did you know? Bede Sixth Form College is
also a TASS Dual Career accredited college
– that, is the Talented Athletes Scholarship
Scheme, recognising our work supporting
talented young athletes.

APTA
Well recognised for the quality of its
performing arts courses, Stockton Riverside
College is now taking that to the next level
with the introduction of the Academy for
Performing and Technical Arts. With a focus
on performance and technical theatre, the
aim is to build and support a creative hub in
the Tees Valley.

Going Green
From swapping single-use plastic cutlery for
more sustainable options to reducing the
number of plastic drink bottles in its fridges,
the Education Training Collective is pledging
to reduce its carbon footprint. Continuing to
build its green credentials, the college group
has the Investors in the Environment bronze
award.

Sports Centre
Situated at Bede Sixth Form College in
Billingham, Etc. has its own sports centre
with a four-court sports hall, gym, climbing
wall and FIFA 1 standard FA-registered
floodlit Astro pitch. The sports facilities
are open to the public on evenings and
weekends. The centre is often used as a
training ground for various clubs and
regularly hosts sporting events.

Graduations
Celebrating success is part of the culture
across the college group and the annual
graduation ceremonies have quickly become
a highlight of the academic year. Stockton
Riverside College and Redcar and Cleveland
College are part of the Teesside University
College Partnership. In 2018, the colleges
introduced their first dedicated graduation
ceremonies, enabling students to put the
spotlight on their achievements in the town
where they studied.

Chair of the Board
Etc.’s chair of the governing board is Mark
White OBE DL. A fantastic ambassador for
both the group and the wider Tees Valley,
Mark, who is originally from Stoke-on-Trent,
arrived in the region as a student at the then
Teesside Polytechnic and four decades later
he is still here. The former head of the vice
chancellor's office at Teesside University,
Mark has undertaken a wide range of
governance roles. He says he is proud to play
a part in the success story of the Education
Training Collective.

Familiar faces
There are some familiar faces among their
alumni. Looking back through the archives,
actor Mark Benton and film director Franc
Roddam studied at Stockton and Billingham
Technical College, medal-winning sprinter
Richard Kilty and musical theatre actress Jess
Daley are both former students of Stockton
Riverside College and, harking back to its
Sir William Turner’s links, magician Paul
Daniels studied at the former Sir William
Turner’s Grammar School!

Tees Valley Catering
The Education Training Collective has its
own catering service, providing all catering
and hospitality services across the group.
Choosing to sign up to the Logistics Academy proved the right
move for former Bede Sixth Form student Jacob Moat. The
18-year-old impressed bosses so much during an internship
at PD Ports they offered him a higher apprenticeship as a
chartered surveyor. “I am ecstatic. I didn’t expect this to happen
to me, certainly not at my age, but here I am.”
