BUILDING WHAT COMES NEXT

Its trailers command a premium price compared with some European competitors, but the company says its focus on quality control and attention to detail supports a long working life.
Around 30 people are based at the Middlesbrough facility, where more than £ 3m has been invested in equipment and infrastructure. Most recently, more than £ 150,000 was invested in a new paint shop to support custom fleet colours. The team builds an average of three trailers a week.
Titan says it is well-positioned to respond to changing waste markets and customer demand. As the industry moves towards greater recycling and segregation, the company has continued to develop products tailored to landfill, recycling and specialist waste streams.
The company built its reputation on robust waste trailers for landfill applications. Its Heavy Duty Extreme remains its most durable model, while the Heavy Duty Recycler, introduced in 2024, was designed specifically for recycling work.
Demand is shifting as landfill declines and recycling activity increases. Recycling-spec trailers are lighter because they do not need to withstand landfill site conditions, helping improve payload and reduce cost.
After some market hesitancy at the end of last year, Titan has seen an uptick, with current demand split roughly 50 / 50 between landfill-spec and recycling-spec trailers. Historically, the split was closer
to 85 / 15 in favour of landfill, indicating a clear market shift. The new leakproof trailer is expected to appeal to corporate customers operating in the food waste niche, where liquid retention is critical. Alex Adams, Titan’ s UK operations manager, said:“ Our team takes extreme pride in producing trailers that leave the factory in showroom condition, despite being destined for demanding working environments. That real pride in our product is what sets us apart.”

Wrapped in its eye-catching livery, Titan’ s leakproof trailer will make its show debut at the Road Transport Expo at the NAEC Stoneleigh this summer. The company plans to use the trailer to raise brand awareness and draw attention to its food waste design.
Following RTX, the trailer will be displayed at the Resource & Waste Management Expo in September. It will then join Titan’ s demonstration fleet for customers to demo and trial.
Founded in 1973, Titan Trailers is a Canadian company that opened a UK manufacturing facility in Middlesbrough in 2016 after first shipping complete trailers to Europe in 2006.
The UK operation draws on knowledge from Titan Canada, which manufactures a broad range of agricultural and waste trailers. However, differences in regulations mean products for the UK and Europe must be adapted to suit local requirements.
In the UK, around 450 to 500 moving floor trailers are sold each year. Titan aims to build 100 this year, giving it a target share of around 20 % of the market.
Alongside its core range, Titan builds bespoke trailers in different lengths and heights, with equipment tailored to specific applications and customer needs.
