RECRUITING DIFFERENTLY
Unitemps Teesside: The ethical way to recruit and keep talent in Teesside
Unitemps Teesside is reshaping recruitment in the region – offering local organisations flexible staffing solutions while helping Teesside University students to expand their skills and gain financial independence.
Launched in September 2024 and based in the Student Life Building at Teesside University, Unitemps connects ambitious students and graduates with professional paid experience that complements their studies.
It provides employers across sectors such as education, retail, hospitality, digital, advanced manufacturing and many more with cost-effective, temporary and part-time role placements.
The model is flexible, ethical and powered by motivated individuals with up-to-date skills and fresh ideas.
Recent partnerships showcase this impact. A collaboration with Outwood Grange Academies Trust has placed students in classroom assistant, exam invigilator and
admin roles – supporting school operations while giving aspiring educators hands-on experience.
“ I just wanted to say how fantastic your staff have been – they’ ve really supported us at Riverside and shown dedication and professionalism,” said Natalie Watson, from Outwood Academy Riverside.
And Dr Owain Gardner, from Outwood Acklam, added:“ I can’ t thank your students enough for the work they’ ve done at Acklam – their work and assiduousness has been commented on by our invigilators countless times.”
Another initiative with education charity The Tutor Trust has trained and placed students to deliver tutoring in Hartlepool primary schools – up to 15 hours a week – boosting outcomes for pupils and building the students ' confidence.
BA Education Studies student Fatima said:“ You’ ve not only helped me grow as
