Duo – Husband-and-wife team Adrian and Joanne Hall launched EPS in 2012 .
Home – the EPS team , which currently operates out of the Fusion Hive Building in Stockton , offers a comprehensive suite of electrical consultancy and design services .
and other chartered electrical engineers , have been instrumental in nurturing and mentoring the next generation of engineers .”
The programme works . The business has zero per cent staff turnover and the graduates are all driving forward .
Joanne added : “ We are creating jobs in the Tees Valley and developing engineers in a way that some of the larger companies in our industry don ’ t have the capacity to do .
“ There is a great shortage of engineers on Teesside . During Covid a lot of the region ’ s mature engineers chose to go into retirement rather than head back to the marketplace .
“ This coincided with huge growth in the energy industry , especially in the Tees Valley with the area ’ s drive towards clean energy initiatives .”
Adrian said : “ Our local graduates have developed their skills by designing future clean grid technologies stabilising the national grid ' s voltage and frequency .
“ They have helped design the next generation of battery storage plants working with wind farms that release clean energy on peak demand alongside projects aimed at enhancing the safety and reliability of energy from waste plants across the UK .
“ We are especially proud of our work in decarbonising key offshore oil and gas infrastructure and existing oil platforms by researching and developing electrification technologies .”
The drive to developing the region ' s next generation of talent is part of a greater plan to grow the business further , with a focus on securing additional projects closer to home in the Tees Valley area .
The business offers a comprehensive suite of electrical consultancy and design services designed to address the unique challenges in the transmission and distribution , oil and gas , offshore , process , renewables , water and offshore wind sectors .
There are also significant signs of growth in areas such as battery energy storage and data centres .
With an impressive project pipeline including several projects at an average value of circa £ 1m , there continues to be further opportunities for growth , for which the company is actively recruiting additional experienced engineers and expecting to relocate to larger offices within the Tees Valley .
One of the latest contracts EPS has been awarded is the design for a new 132kV substation and an array of cable works for the Aberarder Wind Farm in Scotland . The 50MW wind farm will be capable of harnessing enough energy to power the equivalent of 60,000 homes annually .
EPS is also engaged on a contract to design major modification work for 17 high voltage substations across Scotland which is driving growth , with EPS aware of the huge opportunities out there on Teesside , one of the country ’ s hubs for green energy .
Adrian added : “ We are primed and ready for action . We ’ re keen to have a larger
presence in the local area and to continue to attract and work with the best engineers in the Tees Valley region .
“ With our head office in Teesside , we are strategically placed to serve the entire country .
“ Our vision is to become the go-to electrical engineering consultancy in the region and the UK . That is achievable .
“ And we keep growing . We are forecasting to treble our annual turnover in the next 12 months after winning a lot of work in the transmission and distribution industry .
“ Our project successes have excelled to date , not just because of our high standard of service and attention to detail and quality output but because of our client relationships which are second to none .
“ We specialise in assisting our clients in navigating the intricate process of incorporating low-carbon and renewable energy technologies into their daily operations .
“ We are maintaining our USP , which is the quality of work we produce . EPS doesn ’ t just design systems ; we engineer solutions that make a difference .
“ Whether we ’ re ensuring grid code compliance or conducting power systems studies , our work is always underpinned by a commitment to quality , safety , and reliability .”
