EPS making an impact on Teesside in the energy industry

A global electrical engineering , design consultancy and procurement group is growing rapidly and making a lasting impact on the place it calls home , Teesside .
Teesside-born couple Adrian Hall , a chartered electrical engineer , and Joanne Hall , a Teesside University business graduate , founded Engineering Power Solutions ( EPS ) in 2012 as a contracting business servicing clients in the oil and gas sector .
In 2020 , while EPS was still a lifestyle business operating from home , the couple decided to embark on a plan for growth .
“ We had a great vision , the expertise and passion to grow our business ,” said Adrian .
“ Growing up and living in the Tees Valley , there was never any doubt for us that our business would be based here too , investing in our local area .”
The journey has been an impressive one . In 2020 , EPS brought on board their first full-time employee , a Teesside University graduate who has become a key member of staff .
Today , EPS ' s workforce has expanded to 25 specialist engineers , delivering electrical projects for clients engaged in the broader energy sector such as Centrica , Scottish Water , SSE and Shell .
Given the skills gap in the industry , EPS established an internal training academy that offers a unique opportunity to learn from and work alongside chartered electrical engineers .
The EPS Graduate Training and High Potential Schemes fast track graduates ’ professional development and route to chartership .
EPS , which currently operates out of the Fusion Hive Building in Stockton , is determined to make a lasting impact and has already successfully guided five graduates from Teesside University .
Joanne , whose background is in finance , said : “ The graduate programme is what we are most proud of , knowing we are making a difference . We are giving these young people an opportunity to shine and thrive , fasttracking their careers .
“ Here , graduates are empowered to collaborate with experienced engineers on live projects , as soon as possible .
