July 26th brought with it Social Retail Summit #5, a night
focused on customer relations for omnichannel retailers. e event consisted
of four panel discussions each centered on prominent topics in fashion tech.
Our founder Liza Kindred moderated the third panel for the
evening. e topic for discussion: content and commerce. Panelists included
Rachel Siegel, Social Media Director at StyleCaster Media Group, Sumeera
Rasul, Cofounder of Madesmith, and Kate Sekules, Founder and CEO of
ReFashioner.
Rachel Siegel noted the significance of remaining true to your
brand’s voice and providing context for commerce. Sumeera Rasul spoke
about the significance of storytelling and building out a brand’s identity
through content while Kate Sekules illustrated how content can shape
perception.
We saw a broad range of new possibilities taking shape in the
retail industry. Advances in technology are allowing for new ways to engage
consumers online and we continue to see reiteration about the significance of
having offline touchpoints for customers.
