Textile hybrid: based on isolated bent compression members

I. ABSTRACT
The aim of the present researh is to unveil new approaches in the hybrid
tensile structures framework. In this document will be shown how is
possible to create a graceful pre-stress system composed by a single piece of
fabric and some timber planks, both working in conjunction within an
arrangement that allows to maintain the planks isolated between them and
following the principles of tension and compression. Also it is introduced
topology and reciprocal frames concept as a suitable methods to get
structural efficiency and optimal fabrication results. The methodology is
based on testing their feasibility in different typologies of architectural
surfaces, including free-form, and lay down some guidelines for a further
research.
