Take a moment , to ask yourself , where have you felt as if you ’ ve approached the Holy of Holies .
Our emissary , our high priest , takes the responsibility for representing us all , to approach this Holiest of sites
Gathering up all the wrongdoing on behalf of self and of household , our emissary confesses , and seeks the capacity to speak out for all of us .
Gathering up all the wrongdoing on behalf of the priestly class of leaders , who hold the space for the Divine , who are responsible for making our dwelling a hospitable place for God to be with us , our emissary confesses again
And finally , gathering up all the wrongdoing of our entire nation – our entire people – our emissary speaks for us all , as a totality . All of us , each of us , responsible for acting with holiness – and all of us , each of us , human , and so we will never be always pure . But what we have , what we can offer , is the recognition that we are each responsible , that we each have the capacity to take action . We are blessed by the Divine word , instruction , for how to move from impurity to purity , the mundane to the holy .
