James Brown Early Life:

James Brown was actually supposed to be named Joseph James Brown. But a funny mistake happened when it came to his birth certificate, they accidentally switched his first name and middle name. Brown grew up in extreme poverty and lived in Elko, South Carolina. After about 4 or 5 years of having James Brown, the family moved to Augusta, Georgia, where they stayed at one of Brown's aunts' brothels for a little. Sadly a few years later, Brown's mother decided to leave his family. This basically pushed Brown to the streets where he tried to hustle people just to get by. Another sad thing that happened after his mother left him was that he decided to drop out of school after the sixth grade.
