Expectations of University
• Provide the student with preparatory skills necessary
for the internship placement
• Supervise the internship arrangements and provide an
official university supervisor for the placement
• Provide NSSRA with a copy of the university’s intern
guidelines/manual
• Supervise the student through ongoing communication
and consultation with the student and NSSRA
supervisor
• Evaluate the student’s performance in cooperation with
NSSRA’s supervisor
• Conduct orientation with the student to guide
understanding of the policies and procedures of NSSRA
and help prepare the student for the internship
experience
• Prepare the NSSRA supervisor for the arrival of the
student intern
Expectations of NSSRA
• Inform the student of all policies and procedures
• Present the intern to NSSRA staff as a co-worker and in
a professional manner
• Acquaint the intern with resources and materials used
in the administration of the agency’s programs and
services
• Encourage the highest standards; both praise and
counsel the intern for achievement, growth and success
• Keep continuous records of the intern’s work and
progress
Internship will be terminated if:
• The intern is not making satisfactory progress in the
field placement program as determined by either the
university supervisor or the NSSRA supervisor
• Failure to comply with university or NSSRA internship
policies and procedures
