At this frequency there’s still plenty
of fun to be had, especially because
the IMC performance or tolerances
are increased/improved, which means

the hardware, especially the IMC.
At an amateur level or getting used
to extreme overclocking this CPU
works well, delivering results which
are competitive in just about every
benchmark within the 6x category.
Interestingly enough, there aren’t that
many submissions on HWBOT with
this CPU and literally the only scores
that need besting are the ones by
Chispy with an impressive 9600K
which can run 5450MHz or so. Another

featured in this magazine (Click his

Competing in the regular 6x open
category won’t make the CPU
competitive at all, but that has
everything to do with t e CPUs
having Hyper-Threading, which places
the 9600K at a massive disadvantage

That said, overclocking with Dry Ice
especially with such a CPU is so
simple it’s boarding on being absurd.
These scores in CineBench R11.5 and
CineBench R15 can be easily bested
with a higher NB frequency, higher
DRAM frequency or both. Naturally I
encourage anyone who is so inclined
and working with Dry Ice to e t these
scores herein as the Core i5 9600K is
certainly capable of far more than
presented here.
Next CPU that was put to the test
again with Dry Ice was the Champion of
them all, the Core i9 9900K. The max
frequency here was 5900MHz. A
e lt oversight on my end, I did not
manage to extract the most from this
CPU and while CPU frequency may not
increase, all recorded scores can be
improved upon by some margin.

was also much higher.
