It ’ s rather difficult to write about memory or even talk about it without it all sounding or reading like a press release . There are only a limited number of ways one can speak about a computer component outside of what it does and how well it does it .

In the days where every single PC component , inside and outside , can be fitted with some sort of RGB lighting , it is rather refreshing to see a pure or brilliant white LED product . This is not to say that there isn ’ t a single valid reason for having RGB LED kits , but let ’ s be honest . There ’ s no way to make any system look classy while it ’ s flashing like a disco inside . It is much like a tuned street racer car . You ’ re running the risk of someone calling it a rice rocket , regardless of how true that may or may not be the case . A similar principle applies here and in many other PC component and peripherals as well . Too many colours are always going to look tacky .
Fortunately , CORSAIR is offering this kit in only two schemes , which is Chromed or Blackout ( Black on black for those who “ street ”). Both colour schemes feature the pure

Build quality is something one rarely ever thinks about when it comes to memory . Not technically , dealing with PCB type , ICs , SPD programming and the like , but the actual heatsink , packaging and of course presentation . This is where CORSAIR seems to excel ( not to say the memory isn ’ t great technically , but more on that later ). Since this is a special edition kit , it is only fitting that it is presented in packaging reserved for this kit and only this kit .
To that end , CORSAIR has done a fairly competent job , it could have been more bespoke though . That said , it is certainly better than the vast majority of competing offerings on the market , dare I say better than all .
The package is unassuming but you ’ ll want to hold on to it , simply because it carries the memory in a convenient way , though a smaller carry bag or package of sorts would have gone a long way to make this memory ever so special .
Inside you ’ ll be greeted with a single DIMM encased in a clear plastic container , and above a smaller leaflet with a short message and a thank you note
