O
CZ have managed to
establish themselves
and more particularly their
Revodrive range of PCIExpress SSD’s as market
leaders. Driven by their use
of the PCI-Express interface,
the drives deliver higher
transfer rates than available
through the traditional
SATA interface. The latest
16 The OverClocker Issue 17 | 2011
rendition in this epic series
is the Revodrive 3 X2 480GB,
boasting a ridiculous two
Revodrive’s in a raid-0
configuration, PCI-E 4x
interface and utilizing the
SF-2281 controller. OCZ
claims this product can
achieve up to 130,000 IOPS
with 4K aligned writes, which
makes this the single fastest
consumer SSD on the planet.
We couldn’t wait to try this
monster out.
Analysis
Beginning with the well
known HDTUNE benchmark
and average read in MB/s,
we find figures that look
almost unbelievable. The
Revodrive whips the ACARD
almost by a factor of four
and delivers a massive 488.7
MB/s, an amazing start.
For the average end user,
the HDTUNE read MB/s is
almost the most important
benchmark as it gives a
reasonable indication of
real world operations such
as loading a large game or
opening an application.
Next up is the write average
component of HDTUNE and
again we find similar results
with another extremely
strong showing from the
Revodrive. This result will
please users working with
large files or performing
tasks such as video editing.
