business needs change. The Unique Selling Point( USP) of the Merlin ® system is that you grow into it, not out of it! Some notable recent achievements: 2020 / 21 – won 12 awards( 6 National, 4 Regional and 2 Local) for Innovation, Functionality & Customer Service, including‘ Best Software for Visitor Attractions’ award.
Another area of operation that has been added is‘ room hire’, which can be used for a variety of events and activities. Additional facilities can also be provided such as projector, tutor and even catering if required. These can be booked in advance and allocated to a particular area or event. There are also some specific craft areas which can also be booked by individuals or groups.
We initially won a tender to supply software to five of the museums belonging to Portsmouth City Council. They already had some hardware from a previous supplier and wanted to continue using that wherever possible. However, this proved impossible and we eventually had to install new hardware too. Following implementation of the initial systems we were then asked to supply systems for two additional locations, bringing the total up to seven, five with new hardware too. Being a local authority, we also had to integrate with their existing IT system structure and security and this was managed by us with advice and help from their own IT support staff. Over the early part of 2018 the D-Day Museum completed a full upgrade, with money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and opened again at Easter. We worked with the development team to supply new ticketing facilities, a membership system and on-line ticketing. All these new features incorporated the new D-Day logo and colour scheme.
