YOUNG CHRONICLE Men At Work    Mohit was driving along a highway. He stopped at a roadside dhaba and ordered tea. He sat at a table as he waited for his order. He suddenly noticed two men working along the roadside. One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep in the ground and then move on. The other man came along behind him and filled in the hole with the soil the previous man had dug out. As Mohit sipped his tea and watched these strange proceedings going on for some time, he could not contain his curiosity any longer. He finished his tea and walked towards the two men who were still engrossed in their work. “Hold it, hold it,” he said to the men. “Can you tell me what's going on here? What exactly are you both doing?’’ “Well, we work for the government." one of the men said. “But one of you is digging a hole and the other is filling it up. You're not accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the government's money?” said Mohit. "You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. “Normally there are three of us. My name is Ashok, this is Deepak and our third colleague is Ramu. I dig the hole, Ramu plants a tree in the hole and Ashok here puts the dirt back.” "Yes”, Deepak said. “Now just because Ramu is ill and couldn’t come today, that doesn't mean we’ll stop our work, does it?” And Mohit was left absolutely dumbfounded as the men moved along and continued their work!
