STRAWBERRY MOON
On June 2, 2015, the moon was positioned
exactly opposite to the Earth and the
Sun. But what is interesting about that?
The fact that this moon was slightly pink in
colour.
This phenomenon is called the Strawberry
Moon.
The phrase Strawberry Moon dates back to
the Native Americans, who would give a
unique name to each month's first full
moon.
June’s full moon is called the Strawberry
Moon because the short season during
which strawberries can be harvested happens in June. Since strawberries are not
indigenous to Europe, Europeans call it the
Rose moon, while other cultures named it
the hot moon for the beginning of the summer heat.
