OBAMA’S VISIT TO INDIA ON
REPUBLIC DAY: By Arshia Garg
The 66th Republic Day is being
celebrated on 26 January 2015.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi
invited US President Barack
Obama to be the Chief Guest at
our Republic Day, and he
accepted it. Obama will be the
first US president to attend the
Republic day parade of India. Obama will come
with his wife Michelle and his senior officials. There will
be around 1 lakh visitors to watch the parade.
US president Obama, President Pranab Mukherjee
and Prime Minister Narendra Modi might be sitting
inside bullet proof enclosures on Rajpath while
watching the Republic Day parade.
Much planning has been done for the security of
Obama. The Delhi Police will deploy around 40,000
men including NSG commandos and sharp-shooters
at Rajpath.
Indian Army has imposed high alert in Jammu and
Kashmir with the news of militant revolt in the
state. After input from Intelligence agencies that
bombs could be hidden anywhere, Special Cell and
Crime Branch officers have been asked to be
vigilant about the flower pots around Rajpath and
India Gate.
During the Day 1 of his three-day visit, the American
president and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi
will hold talks on the entire gamut of bilateral ties
and discuss ways to enhance cooperation. The visit is
also expected to boost the seven- year-old civil
nuclear deal.
The next day he flies to Agra and will be at Taj for
about 6 hours. The Taj Mahal will be closed to public
during the visit of President Obama.
On the final day of the visit, Obama is expected to
give a joint Radio address along with PM Narendra
Modi.
Let’s hope this visit proves fruitful to India’s and the
world’s growth and development.

Tanisha’s Perspective on Obama's visit to India on
Republic Day
I am Tanisha, and I am in class 3.
I am excited about Mr. Obama’s visit to India on Republic
Day. It is a dream for me also that I must go one day to
see the parade live but because of high security it is
better to see it from home. My mother tells me we can see
it better on television.
I know that this year the guest to visit our country is Mr.
Obama and on TV they were showing that he would be
staying in Maurya Hotel at the presidential suite. He is
lucky he will be seeing our very ethnic Parade with so many
colours.
Mr. Obama is a very nice person. He is so tall and his wife
is so smart. He has very beautiful girls. I would like to see
him with his family and make friends with his daughters so
one day I can visit them in USA. I asked my mother if we
can invite them to our house but she said they would not
come. I am sorry about that.
Republic day is exciting for me because we fly kites with
my Papa and we have lots of fun in the park. When we go
to our Nani house my Nana always pulls up the flag.
I love India.
