If you have been following the previous editions of The Young
Chronicle, you would have read the history of Jammu and
Kashmir in the previous editions, and have understood the
significance of such a huge voter turnout.
This particular election has been surprising as the BJP has
achieved 25 seats, which has been its highest in many years.
Last year BJP had won only 11 seats. So even though Modi’s
mission 44, of getting a clear majority wasn’t achieved, this was
one of their best performances in the state.

Last year, the National Conference had won 28 seats, and had
made the collation government with the National Congress. This
year, we are yet to see who will make the government, but the
scenario has completely changed with PDP and BJP taking the
lead.
The Chief Ministerial candidates of each party are as follows:
Peoples’ development Party (PDP): Mehbooba Mufti
National Conference (NC): Omar Abdullah
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP): To Be Confirmed
National Congress: Ghulam Nabi Azad
