Indian Origin Boy Wins Spell Bee
Eid-al-Adha or BaqarEid is celebrated by
Muslims across the
globe. It marks the end
of Ramadan or Ramzan.
On this day, Abraham (Ibrahim) sacrificed his son Ishmael,
following it as a God’s
order. Hence the day
honours this sacrifice.
On this day, the Muslims sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with
family members, neighbours and the poor. They wear new clothes and attend an open-air prayer meeting during Id-ul-Zuha.
According to the lunar-based Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha is celebrated
on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. It is a four day event. However, as per the
Gregorian calendar, the dates vary each year, with a shift of 11 days earlier every year.
Ganpati Pandal Evacuated for Namaz During Eid
One of the most novel things about India is, that Hindus
and Muslims co-exist peacefully. It’s only political parties
who bring out our differences to meet their agendas.
Recently, during Bakra Eid, The Seva
Sangh Ganeshotsav Mandal in Colaba set a novel example by allowing Muslims to perform prayers in the Ganpati pandal on Bakri Eid. Initially, prayers were being offered outside the mosque, which is next to the Ganpati
pandal; but due to shortage of space, the pandal premises were then used as a prayer hall. This in fact was not
the first time such an act had been performed. In fact,
this Bakri Eid, Hindus participated in a Qawwali programme and Muslims performed aarti.
