YOUNG CHRONICLE November 28th, 2014 THE YOUNG CHRONICLE The First Article from Our Young Journalists The Young Journalist What are the safety rules you should observe while walking? Come. Join Us! It is very important to maintain road safety while walking, as it prevents mishaps. While walking on the road we should always take some safety measures: 1) Use the footpath while walking on the road. If there is no footpath so walk on the right hand side of the road so that you can see the oncoming traffic. 2) While crossing, always use the zebra crossing. If there is no zebra crossing, we find a safe place to cross, where there is less traffic or the traffic is far and we can safely walk to the other side. Never run while crossing. Participate in ‘The Young Journalist Mentorship Programme’. This program will help you become a Young Journalist by helping you write articles, which will be published every week. You will find that slowly, you will become an ace writer. Every Saturday, a list of topics will be shared with you, and you would be expected to read on the topic and submit an article by Tuesday. 3) Only cross the road where there is space to reach the footpath on the other side. It is safer to use a subway or a bridge for walking. Feedback will be shared with you, by Wednesday and you will be asked to share an improved version if needed. Once you share the final article, the article will be published in the newspaper on Friday. 4) If there is a traffic light close to where you need to cross the road, you must wait for the green figure on the signal to glow.
