President Barack Obama Visits India
President Barack Obama landed in New Delhi on Sunday, making
it the first time an American President had visited India twice.
This trip was also important for a better relationship between
the nations.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, welcomed the president and
First Lady Michelle Obama at the airport, with a hug and a
short conversation, before traveling to Rashtrapati Bhawan,
for a reception and to discuss relations between the two
countries.
Modi told the reporters that, “Barack and I have formed a bond, a friendship. We can laugh and joke and talk
easily on the phone.”
The two leaders then headed to Hyderabad House, the guesthouse, for talks. They discussed many issues that are
faced by both countries. They both claimed that it was their friendship that helped them make progress on topics
such as climate change, trade between the two nations, and defense cooperation. Obama maintained that Modi’s
victory in the elections, and his strong personal commitment to the U.S-India relationship gave him an opportunity
to further energize these efforts.
The president also visited Raj Ghat and also signed a guestbook at the site.
He wrote, “The spirit of Gandhi is very much alive in India today, and it
remains a great gift to the world. May we always live in his spirit of love and
peace among all people and nations.”

Barack Obama attended the Republic Day parade on Monday, and thus became
the first U.S. president to do so. He maintained that he had never seen
anything like the parade before. President Obama had to cut his trip short by
a day and cancel the trip to the Taj Mahal, since he had to visit Saudi Arabia
and pay his condolences on the death of Kind Abdullah. But before Obama
left, he mesmerized the Indian people through his speech at the Siri Fort auditorium.

The Nuclear Deal
Rambo and Pranks have no idea what the word nuclear means,
but they have been hearing the elders talk about some
nuclear deal and are pretty curious about what it is.

It would suffice to say that nuclear power is one of the most
effective sources of energy. It can generate huge amounts of
electricity and can power cities.

Most developed nations like the U.S., China and japan, use nuclear power. India wants to start using
the same, too. However there were obstacles in the way, which President Obama cleared. The deal
will now enable India to import equipment from the United States, to set up nuclear power plants.
