Atal Bihari Vajpyee, the Bharat
Ratna Awardee
Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime
Minister of India in 1998. He was an excellent
pollitician and is a wonderful person. He is
most known for his modern and progressive
thought process.
Under Vajpyee India started progressing very
well. Village roads were built, and the highways
repaired. We also conducted an underground
nuclear test in the middle of the Thar
Dessert. These weapons haven’t been used till
now, but have shown the world that India is no
less.

GOOD GOVERNANCE IN YOUR SOCIETY!
You could also be part of the good governance
drive. All you need to do is, set up a team and reach
out to your colony’s Residence Welfare Association,
and find out about problems the society faces. As
children, you could clean your society, install
dustbins even outside your colony, plant more trees,
and distribute pamphlets amongst residents on how
you think they could contribute to make your society
a better place to live.
Let’s change the world, society by society.
Share pictures of your helping the society in
any way, and you will win an achabacha or
achibachi badge.
At the same time, PM Vajpyee started a bus
between Delhi, and Lahore (Pakistan), to
improve ties. But around then, the Pakistan
Army had already entered India in Kashmir,
and the Kargil war began in March-April, 1999.
Rons and Pranks had heard of the Kargil war,
but they didn’t know that the war started
during the peace process.

PM. Vajpyee encouraged industries to grow,
they also got more funds from foreign
countries, and encouraged research and
development. All in all, he did a great job, and
is still remembered as one of the best Prime
Ministers of the country.
New Year Resolutions You Could Keep?
Are you planning to keep any New Year resolutions? Do
share them with us through the box below. We would be
more than happy to keep track of them and ask you
periodically if you are sticking to them.
Tip: Keep them simple and realistic.
In fact, it is said that even though Pandit
Nehru was from a different party, he knew
years before, that Mr. Vajpyee would become
PM one day.
