CENTREBOARD
RECORD ATTENDANCE AT REGATTAS
The 2015 / 2016 year has been very successful for the Centreboard division of RPAYC. We have seen record attendance from our sailors at regattas, National Titles, State Titles and also World Titles.
At home at our Club in Pittwater we have seen the Centreboard division very active each Sunday and generally have 16 Open Optimists, 11 Intermediate Optimists, 8 Green Optimists, 14 Laser 4.7s, 13 Laser Radials, 11 Laser Full Rigs and 7 29ers. That is up to 80 centreboard boats racing each week from RPAYC on Pittwater.
Winter training has seen up to 40 Optimists and Lasers rigging each Sunday morning from 7:30am for various training sessions with both the Club’ s coaches and private coaches.
All our boat racks are full which shows the enthusiasm that Centreboard is experiencing at present.
Many of our sailors have attended overseas regattas in all classes in such countries as New Zealand, UK, Sri Lanka, Antigua, Italy, to name a few. And we have performed well. At home we have sailors competing in
NSW, QLD, VIC for various regattas.
Let’ s hope the next twelve months is as good as the last. Following are reports from each of our centreboard classes.
