REAR COMMODORE ACTIVITIES
The purpose of the Activities Committee is to facilitate members ’ engagement with the Club , to increase participation and deliver a program of events that appeals to all members .
We aim to provide opportunities for members to come together socially in a wide range of activities to help generate a sense of community within the Club membership .
When we look back at the year that is just closing , we can be satisfied that our Club continued to deliver an incredibly rich calendar of sailing and social activities , as well as programs of community focus such as IDS ( Integrated Disabled Sailing ), Sailability and Soldier On .
The occasion of the AGM is also a good time to reflect and recognise all of those who make our program possible : Admin staff , members of the Committee as well as the many members who volunteer their time to support the Club .
I wish to extend a special thank you to Chef Steve Proctor and his staff for supporting our activities by consistently delivering high quality meals at all our functions .

• First Fridays ( organised by the Cruising Division )
• Golf Competition
• Melbourne Cup Garden Party
• Vintage Car Rally and Luncheon
• Kids ’ Christmas Party
• New Year ’ s Eve and fireworks party
• Sail Expo
• Mother ’ s day lunch
• Zonta ( International Women ’ s Day )
Approximately in excess of 5,000 Members and Guests have attended Club Activities over the year
One of the most successful events in our calendar continues to be the Degustation Dinner which has a strong loyal following and is highly rated by all who attend .
2016 / 17 will be the year of the Sesquicentenary with many events planned to celebrate this great milestone . It will also be the year of the Rio Olympics which will lead most of us to serious TV dependency syndrome .
The Activities Committee will be proposing an exciting calendar of events to complement the 150th anniversary celebrations .
Look out for the Portuguese Beach RPA Olympics Knockout Event in August and more surprises to come .
