Gov. Corbett Makes Name Change Possible
Vecchiolli ’16 Receives SAR Award

Philip Vecchiolli, a construction technology-carpentry junior, received the
Sons of the American Revolution’s William J. Yearsley 4W1 Award for outstanding service during the Founder’s Day ceremony. The award is given to
a junior for demonstrating the qualities of industry, self-discipline, personal
integrity, reliability, contributions above the call of duty, having a GPA above
3.25, and having fewer than 28 disciplinary points. Vecchiolli is an Eagle
Scout, and at Williamson, he is on the cross country team, manager of the
baseball team, and often helps his fellow classmates with their homework.
He does carpentry work in his spare time. Pictured are: Vecchiolli (holding

Matthew Roy, senior class president,
and Robert Abbot 8W1, Alumni Association president.
The ceremony closed with Russell
Harvey 5W0 leading the crowd in the
singing of the alma mater and Specht
giving the benediction.
Guests then went to the dining room
for a buffet prepared by Tim Burbage,
director of food services, and his staff
and students.
The evening closed with the varsity
basketball team defeating an alumni
team, 67-64, in a spirited contest.
Former Trustee Crawford Dies
Alan Crawford Jr., who served on
Williamson’s board of trustees from
1972 to 1984, died Aug. 23. He was 88.
Wayne C. Watson 4W8, board chairman, said, “We were sorry to hear of the
passing of Alan Crawford. He was an
outstanding member of our board and
was very dedicated to Williamson. He

had vast financial knowledge and used
it to further Williamson’s mission. We
greatly appreciate his 12 years of service
to the board and to Williamson.”
Mr. Crawford, of Devon, Pa., was an
investment advisor, and was also known
as a conservationist and civic leader.
Before retiring in 1986, he was a managing partner of the Philadelphia office
of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., a
private bank headquartered in New
York City. Earlier, he worked at Stroud
& Co., Philadelphia.
