got to be more work and effort to maintain than Jim could handle. Mary and Jim have always had ties in Long Beach Island, N. J. Just a side note and distant recall. The day after we graduated, Linker, Hibbs, Iatesta, Schuler, and I drove to LBI for a day of sea shore sun and swimming. I believe Jim’ s parents had a place there as did Buzzy Park’ s dad. Hibbs just got a new 1960 Chevy Impala convertible. The top was down and we were cruising. Jim and Mary spend as much time as they can with their grandkids. Their children and Jim’ s brother Ray 6W1 all have homes in LBI. The Davis have 10 grandkids ages two to 30. They keep very busy with birthdays and graduations. Jim and Mary try to keep up with the various interests of their grandkids. Jim mentioned how much they both enjoy the BBQs after Alumni Day that Leah prepares for our class. Jim is still board president of his condo. It keeps him very busy, often with major issues and renovations. Currently, he is dealing with a half million-dollar contract to renovate the exterior front. Jim mentioned all the work is tiring him, but the association won’ t let him retire. A lot of responsibility, but we all know Jim is a very good manager.
I have had several calls with Dean Hibbs as he roasts in the warm sun in the Florida Keys. Dean and I shared a few stories from our WTS days. Dean indicated he has been a snow bird in Florida for 20 years. He indicates maintenance and upkeep has become an expense and a chore. Sounds like he may sell out shortly and join us in our Pennsylvania winters. Dean indicated he is interested in joining the Wanamaker Society.
Recently, Leah and I had dinner with Richard and Barb Getz at Shady Maple. As you will recall, Richard is an honorary member of our class. Barb is recovering from a recent knee replacement. Richard is continuing with his physical therapy. When time allows, they continue to visit their cabin in Potter County, Pa. Richard and Barb are also planning to join the Wanamaker Society.
On occasion, I hear from Ed Shiffert. He often has questions about the school. I did hear he is planning to build a new home.
Bob Berwager often keeps in touch. Recently he wrote for directions to the Philadelphia Airport. In retirement Bob sometimes transports needy people. He and Mary Ellen are enjoying retirement in New Oxford.
Barb Smith reports Bill is cancer free. Recently, he had two cataract procedures. Bill enjoys his new vision and can now see the road signs. They both just returned from another cruise. Hoping to see them soon.
I have enjoyed brief EM from John“ Chet“ Allen. He remains very happy in their new surroundings.
I keep in touch with Barb Riley. She said Frank is starting to adjust to his new surroundings. She said Frank was thrilled with the shower of birthday cards many classmates recently sent him. Personally, I was very please so many of you responded, too.
If my memory serves me correctly, a note from the Mummerts indicated they will be at their Maine home and will miss Alumni Day.
I need the new EM address for Buzzy Park. I am aware some of us change that address from time to time. Waiting to hear from you, Buzzy. I do have the EM addresses for most of our class. However, assuming the few others are also online, I need yours, too. If you are not receiving occasional class EM from me, then I don’ t have your EM address. EM

as you know is easier and faster way to communicate.
Leah and I continue to support Wing Night at school. We attend all the school functions, while representing our class. Leah continues to remain very active serving the Williamson Auxiliary. She is often seen with the other mothers and wives, working with their fund-raiser projects. Often also attending school functions is Pete Feusner, who we just recently saw at the 5W4 and Friends Luncheon. I continue to serve the Alumni Association as recording secretary, now for about 35 years. I have been writing our class news for the Williamsonian for 57 years now. Not complaining, but it would make my task easier if more of you sent me news.
The school has the funds and shortly the expansion of the dining room will begin. Currently, the dining room has limited seating and the entire student population cannot be feed at one time. I understand with the expansion seating will be increased up to about 330.
The new Watson Dorm will be completed by Alumni Day. I have personally been through some of the early stages. It will be open for tours on Alumni Day. It’ s Williamson’ s first new dorm in over 100 years.
Leah and I will be looking forward to seeing many of you on Alumni Day, June 3, 2017. Hopefully, many of you are planning to attend. We will all begin with the President’ s breakfast. Look for the Alumni Day brochures that will arrive at your homes shortly. Leah and would love to host all of you again at our home on Sunday, June 4, for a BBQ. We have been doing that for many years now and would like to continue. Let us know if you are available to attend.
Don’ t forget to support our Alumni Association. New yearly and lifetime memberships are available now. A reminder to support our Williamson like it supported us for three years. In order to continue providing free scholarships the school relies heavily on our financial gifts. Annual gifts are very important for the school’ s current needs. Looking toward the future supporting the Wanamaker Society will insure our growth and continuance. Currently, we have the following classmates confirmed: Keller, Mummert, Iatesta, Righter, Berwager, Davis, and Hatchigian. I encourage each of you to consider providing in your will a final gift to our Williamson.
Till we meet again, be well and remember, we are 6W0!

Hi Gang,
At the end of March our class was fortunate to again have Dave Miller offer the use of his barn at his home in Thornton, Pa., for a class get-together. Dave’ s“ Man Cave” is a perfect setting for the Class of 6Wl to meet, talk, eat, laugh, and celebrate our continuing friendship.
At this gathering, we had the pleasure of having Michael Rounds, the president of Williamson, join us for lunch and to witness the camaraderie that exists among our classmates. Our guys told story after story of humorous situations that arose during our three years together and after graduation. We also listened to President Rounds’ explanation

of how he became a West Point cadet, football player, and the interesting journey that brought him to Williamson. A lot of information was passed back and forth in a relaxed but respectful manner. Feedback from all attending has been highly positive. A good time was had by all.
Another guest to the luncheon was a twothirds 6Wl classmate, Bill Hampton. Bill left at the end of junior year and moved to Colorado. As we tried to recreate his time at Williamson, Haggerty chimed in that Joe and Bill were roommates. We agreed that possibly that was one of the reasons he left. Truthfully, it was wanderlust and a girl. We forgave him for leaving. Bill has maintained that great sense of humor which we all remembered.
A classmate that showed up for the first time at these gatherings was Larry Ohm. Most of us haven’ t seen Larry since graduation, but it didn’ t take long for us to get into gear and pick up right where we left off in 1961. Other than losing some hair he has held up well since we saw him 56 years ago. It is amazing how easy it is to rekindle a friendship after living and working together for three years.
We all but begged Larry to join us at the Williamson Golf Outing, but we will settle for his continued presence at our social events. Thanks for joining us, Larry!
Those of us from the 6Wl class who attended were Blyler, Covington, Haggerty, Korab, Miller, Ohm, Oler, Pitonyak, Slade, Spiess, Swinehart, and me. Remember, anyone from the Class of 6Wl is welcome and urged to attend. Tell anyone on the above list and they will keep you informed.
The gag gift exchange between Oler and Haggerty took place with the rest of us observing. The exchange marks the culmination of who is the ultimate winner at guessing the outcome of this year’ s pro football games. This time, Joe won. It’ s complicated!
John Spiess, his wife, and daughter are soon headed to Washington, D. C., to see the sites and verify that their tax dollars are being wisely spent. From there they will go to Rappahannock County, Va., to visit their granddaughter who is a teacher at St. Margaret’ s School located on the Rappahannock River. After the hustle and bustle of D. C. I’ m sure the laid-back atmosphere of the area will be welcome. That part of Virginia is a beautiful rural area that is not far from D. C.
Len Quinney lives in Virginia near where John and his family will be visiting. Len checked in and told me he would have liked to attend Dave’ s get-together, but he recently sold his big home outside of Front Royal, Va., and moved to a smaller home on the other side of the mountain. The acreage, sawmill, and out-buildings which were a dream for a younger man, now have become drudgery for on older man. Currently, he has a schedule for working on the new home and couldn’ t find time to join us. He does want to join us in the future.
John Korab has a trip to China already scheduled for the end of June. He will visit Shanghai, cruise the Yangtze River, and visit the Three Gorger Dam which is the world’ s largest power station. It is almost 600 feet high and over 1 1 / 4 miles across. The dam is capable of generating up to 30 million horsepower. Maybe John will treat us to a slide show.
Wayne Swinehart made it back from Florida in time to come to Dave’ s. He is getting around remarkedly well considering the trauma he experienced from tearing four

tendons in one leg. He doesn’ t move like he did at 21 years, but none of us do. He still is wearing that deep Florida tan.
If anyone can think of a way to get Rock Mclaughlin to answer his phone or return a message, an email, or a text, please pass on the secret. We miss you, Rock!
Let’ s make a good showing at Alumni Day which will be Saturday, June 3. Don’ t forget to sign-up for the annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 5. We want to continue to be the class with the most participants.

Greetings!
I had a surprise email from our old friend“ whistling” Bill Brown. Before our last reunion, I tried in vain to contact Bill, but to no avail. So, it was great to finally hear from him. His comments follow:“ Hello, Bob, I do enjoy reading 6W2 news bits. As for Bill Brown, I stayed in construction, working with“ Willie” grad Mickey Schrenk. I then moved on to working on schools, dorms, gyms, fast food projects— Boston Markets, Taco Bells, Pizza Huts— and metal buildings. My last project was a pharmaceutical plant, after which I was downsized. The company went from 13 supers to four which was OK with me since I was 67 at the time. My last project was planning more work— so, yes— I went back to work.
“ My girlfriend Kitty and I got married in 1963. We had three children and lived on a small farm north of Doylestown, where we raised sheep, pigs, steer, and had a large garden. After 41 years, Kitty passed away. Four years later, I met a girl I went to high school with and we’ ve been married going on eight years in July. We live about 30 miles south of Tampa in Sun City Center, which has a lot ways of staying busy: outside swimming pools, inside lap pools, hot tubs, shuffle board, lawn bowling, pickle ball, tennis, and lot of clubs.
“ My children all live within a stone’ s throw of Doylestown. I have a grandson who lives in Vermont, where he went to college and never came back home, got married, and now has a four-year-old son.
“ Have a great reunion. Bill Brown C-9. My email is granpopbrown @ hotmail. com.”
I hope to see most of you at our reunion dinner on Friday afternoon June 2, or on Alumni Day, June 3. Details to follow. You will be contacted, either by phone or email.
Remember that any time of the year is a good time to send a donation to support the school’ s mission of educating the next generation of talented craftsmen and entrepreneurs. I await news of you and your family. I’ ll take phone calls, email, letters, or what have you.
As Always, Obie 6W2
