16 sonally, I was elected again to serve as recording secretary. Now is the time to renew your membership in our Alumni Association. Your dues help support the mission and continued efforts of your alma mater. Join now. On Sunday following Alumni Day, Leah and I opened our home to another class BBQ. I sent two e-mail invites to all classmates. Many of you did take the time to R.S.V.P. Thank you! It was our treat and we were very pleased with the participation. Those attending were: Berwagers, Davis, J. Evans, Feusners, and the Smiths. As usual, Leah provided us all with a great presentation of BBQ servings. Also, contributions from those who attended. A great day of bonding and celebration was enjoyed by all. Bill and Barb Smith were our overnight house guests. This summer while vacationing with our entire family at Sea Isle, N.J., we had dinner with our best man Hal and Peggy McLaughlin 6W1. Later that week, we had lunch with Jim and Pat Day 6W2. On a personal note, I will again be attending the Barrett/Jackson Classic Auto Auction in Las Vegas this September. In December, Leah and I are booked for a 15-day cruise to Hawaii. We will be touring San Diego for three days before disembarking to Hawaii. This will be our fourth visit there. Ed Shiffert produced and dedicated a plaque in memorial of Mr. Bud Johnson, paint and decorating instructor at WTS, 1938-65. The memorial plaque is now displayed in the shop theory room. A great and deserving tribute to an educator who shared his talents and skills with so many grads. Leah and I visited Bill and Barb Smith at their home this week. Bill prepared his specialty of wings while Barb delighted us with all the trimmings, including homegrown peach pie. Barb’s Mom is well on her way to having recovered from a recent procedure. The Smiths have a lovely home in Delaware. Barb has it beautifully decorated. Bill continues to upgrade with a new roof and concrete driveway. The Smiths will be going on their next cruise this November. In February 2013, they will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on another cruise, this time with all the upgrades. Leah and I always enjoy our visits with the Smiths. Currently, we are planning another get-together at the Dover Downs buffet. Andy Keller and I keep in touch weekly. Andy is still looking forward to getting Barb fully retired. They recently enjoyed a week’s vacation with their family. In between Andy’s Masonic obligations, he also often visits family back in Hanover, Pa. Andy remains active in keeping the class giving ongoing. He told me there are still a couple of classmates who have not pledged their gift for our 50th reunion class gift. It’s still not too late to send your pledge or check. Andy is waiting to hear from you. Keep up the great work, Andy. You are doing a super job. Leah and I are looking to a weekend visit with them this fall. Heard from Ed Shiffert. He was on a recent bass fishing trip in Canada. He had his motor home along for comfort. However, he said it was way too hot, so he and Gert cut the trip short. That’s all for now, take care. Middletown Road Glen Mills, PA 19342-9661 610-459-1964 302-562-6883 (cell) Hi guys, Sorry I missed Alumni Day due to another commitment. I received a report that the weather was just about perfect. Those attending from our class were Barry Blyler, Charlie Covington, Dave Miller, Scotty Oler, Bob Slade, and John Spiess. The event gave members of our class a chance to talk to members of the Class of 6W2 who were there en masse due to their 50th reunion. They did better than good in their efforts to raise a class gift. The next day (Sunday), a group from our class attended a picnic at Barry Blyler’s house in Levittown. The event was attended by Charlie Covington, John Korab, Jeff Long, Louie Pitonyak, Bob Slade, John Spiess, Wayne Swinehart, and me, along with some wives and girlfriends. We had the opportunity to see and hear Barry crank up the “T” bucket he built — that big Chevy V8 with straight pipes. It reminded us of the old days. The afternoon was spent sharing snacks and dinner along with various beverages. The weather cooperated with the exception of a 5-minute shower. I brought along an album of pictures of Williamson circa 1890 that I acquired at an auction. We all enjoyed reviewing them. It is always great hearing new and old stories of the happenings during our stay at Williamson. It was very kind of Barry and Arlene to offer their home for the picnic. The following day was the 39th Williamson Golf Outing. This year, the event was held at Broad Run Golf Club in the hills west of West Chester. I do mean hills! We had rain gear on and off at least five times. That fact would be a negative if we were working, but it is OK if playing golf. Our participating class members were Charlie Covington, Dave Miller, Scotty Oler, Louie Pitonyak, and me. You may notice a missing name — Joe Haggerty. Joe had not been feeling well, but has since found a remedy for his condition. He did show up for the after-golf picnic to continue the HaggertyOler gag gift exchange. Scotty’s offering was a device to assist elderly golfers with their putting, namely, Haggerty. It was a cut apart and reassem- ’60 Class Enjoys BBQ Members of the Class of 6W0 enjoyed a barbecue and time together at Ed Hatchigian’s home in West Grove the Sunday after Alumni Day. Pictured are (left to right): Bill Smith, Bob Berwager, Ed Hatchigian, Jim Evans, Jim Davis, and Pete Feusner. All enjoyed the food prepared by Hatchigian’s wife Leah. bled bicycle frame designed to allow the golfer (Haggety) to sit on the bicycle seat and swing a putter (mechanically attached to a pivot) in order to conserve valuable energy. The device brought rave reviews from the crowd. Joe’ offering to Scotty fell into a category not suited for this publication. Later, Joe insisted the face-off was a draw until he was reminded he conceded defeat in front of witnesses. May the games continue! Another high note was that Dave Miller won the trophy for closest to the pin in the senior category. Skip 64 W H K
