TOP TIPS TO GET FIT THIS SUMMER

Haesley ’ s team does a personal training session every Tuesday at Bulimba and a session every Thursday at New Farm , then yoga on Fridays . They also ran Brisbane ’ s 10km Bridge to Brisbane run in August .

TIPS

• The most important things to think about as you age are mobility and stretching ; yoga is great for that .
• You need to get your heart rate up too so do some cardio sessions a couple of times a week .
• The best way to get some weights sessions in is to get some friends together and chip in for a personal trainer or set a team goal like you ’ re going to finish a race .
• Do a hike together .

Alex recently ran City2Surf - he ran the whole way including Heartbreak Hill .

• To prep for the 14km run , Alex got a personal trainer onboard who wrote him a program . Tuesday were Swedish speed interval training , Thursdays were hill sprints and Saturday was distance runs .
• Wind down alcohol and sugar consumption .
• Find some friends to hold you accountable and create some friendly competition .
• The night before a big run , fuel up with pasta .
