Culburra Beach has a very relaxed , coastal vibe . With two beaches , a lake , a bay and river it ’ s all about activities on and in the water . It ’ s a coastal village vibe with a strong community presence .
Local tips are important because it depends on the wind , the swell and what activity you are looking to do . If it ’ s surfing , then the main beach , reef or the lake are top spots ( Warrain Beach ), as is Crooky ( Crookhaven Heads ). If you are after calmer waters , Tilbury Cove is the go or head over to Honeymoon Bay . If you want kayaking or stand up paddle boarding , Curleys Bay or Lake Wollumboola .

A lot of Melbournian folk travel to the shores of this beachside location . Campers , locals and holiday home occupiers all come to the peninsula to enjoy the beaches and weather .
The best things to do include a visit to the wineries , enchanted maze , horse ride on the beaches , strawberry farms and enjoying the coastal beaches . We love to swim in the rock pools at Sorrento , surf at Portsea back beach and build sandcastles at Rosebud foreshore beach .
Over the Christmas break , I will be enjoying what the peninsula has to offer . Might catch a ferry to Queenscliff for fish and chips , go fishing and also head to the country for some relaxing and water sports at Bonnie Doon .

The Yorke Peninsula comes alive in summer , from swimming , boating and fishing our towns become a hive of activity . Our population increases dramatically during the warmer months as holiday makers come to the area in droves to enjoy everything we have to offer .
We are a two hour trip from Adelaide ’ s CBD yet far enough to keep the crowds at bay . With more than 700kms of stunning coastline , it is the perfect spot to find a piece of sand to call your own .
Dine with views of the fabulous coast or enjoy great fish and chips on the beach watching the sunset . Many venues serve up delicious local produce , from oysters and King George whiting to locally sourced lamb , beef , chicken and other gourmet treats .
Most of our family live in Adelaide , so our children and grandchildren love to join us on the Yorke Peninsula for a little break between Christmas and the New Year .
