Australia and New Zealand boast some of the best spots in the world to spend long , lazy , summer holidays . Whether you have a staycation in your own city or town , or scope out the perfect beach holiday , there ’ s something special about the sunny days and balmy nights of summer .
No matter where you choose to holiday , you don ’ t have to look hard to see the iconic Ray White yellow . So what ’ s like to live and work in some of the best holiday destinations across the southern hemisphere ? We spoke to some of our offices to hear about what the silly season brings their region , and get some insider local tips .

The town doubles or sometimes triples in numbers of people over summer . The restaurants , pubs , clubs , cafes , shops , are all alive . The local business owners do really well and most people have a smile on their face ( hopefully the sun comes out and it doesn ' t rain )!
One Mile Beach is the beach to go to for both locals and tourists . It ' s got a massive sand hill that people exercise on , the kids slide down on all sorts of devices like boogie boards or a real estate agent ’ s corflute sign ! Tuncurry Beach is also beautiful and just on the other side of the breakwall from here is the Tuncurry Rockpool . This is a top spot .
The best local places to eat are Tartt cafe , Bella Bellissimo , Verde , and Spice Monkey . I am looking forward to a few weeks off and if everything goes according to plan then take another few weeks to enjoy all that our region has to offer over summer .

At this time of year , people bring a sense of relaxation to the area . It ’ s a cruisy , casual time of celebrating all the good things . Summer has always been a time for friends and family to visit our beautiful coastline and really soak up why we love living here .
Our favourite pastime or things to do during the summer months is just about anything involving the beach , the ocean and of course eating our catch of the day . I am a big fan of Long Beach Robe and not because it ’ s on my front doorstep , but where else can you drive along a beach during summer , find your own special part of the beach and just enjoy the day ?
Christmas is certainly a busy time with family and friends , and we always have people dropping by , that ’ s the perk of living at a beach . It is also a busy time for real estate and it has always been our biggest sale time , so once the Christmas and New Year ’ s celebrations conclude it ’ s back work for us poor agents . Make hay while the sun shines , they say !
Russell is a very special piece of paradise ; clean , green and very safe . Families and extended families , romantic couples and seniors all enjoy Russell making the most of a warm climate and much to do .
People enjoy water sports , fishing , diving , swimming and boating in general . After a day out on the water what is better than a stroll along the waterfront to enjoy a glass or two and a sharing platter .
A local tip is to check out Long Beach . Order a latte from Carl ’ s Coffee Cart on the water ’ s edge , take a stroll along the beach or an early morning swim , maybe watch the sunrise over the Bay . If you ’ re lucky enough you might see dolphins frolicking in the Bay or an Orca or two .
We work through Christmas ; why would we want to leave such a great spot where many from all around the world pay lots of money to enjoy a special holiday in our special spot ?
