KATE YARDY ’ S FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR THE CHRIS O ' BRIEN LIFEHOUSE
BY MACLAREN SMITH “ The Chris O ' Brien Lifehouse is amazing , and I ' m so thankful for the supportive staff at their facility who have assisted me in my cancer journey .
“ I completed Go The Distance last year with my workplace , and am very much looking forward to this year too , even though it ' s a bit different for me this time around as I now have cancer myself . and kind to me during treatment has certainly made it all achievable for me .
“ I ' m so grateful to my family , friends , and work , who have been incredibly supportive to me during this chapter of my life . I ' m so lucky to be surrounded by people who genuinely care about me and I ' m so grateful for that .
Being diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2023 at the age of 31 is not easy for anyone , but Kate Yardy is continuing to be her best self ten months in .
Kate is the creative manager at Ray White Surry Hills and is currently raising money for the Chris O ' Brien Lifehouse . All donations help provide compassionate , research-driven cancer care , as well as holistic support services that ease the burden of distance for regional patients .
“ Our office took part in this fundraising campaign last year , however this year it ' s a bit different for me , because I was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer in October 2023 ,” she said .
“ My cancer diagnosis has lit a bit of a fire from within me to want to do more for my local cancer community - it ' s nice to be able to give back .”
During this challenging period in her life , Kate has chosen to return to work at the Ray White Surry Hills office .
“ I have continued to work throughout my treatment to try to retain as much normalcy as possible ,” Kate said .
“ So many aspects of my life have changed , and I have found that working throughout my treatment has worked well for me , even though I was given the opportunity to take a break .
“ There have certainly been times throughout the last year where I have really struggled , but knowing that I have an amazing workplace that has been so flexible
“ Our team is top tier and I ' m so thankful for their love and support during this time of my life .”
Kate and her team are currently aiming to raise $ 3,000 for the Chris O ' Brien Lifehouse .

DANCING WITH THE STARS OF THE NORTH

Anthony Cowie , director of the Ray White Cammeray office , took part in the " Stars of the North " event in June to support the Cancer Council ' s Stars dance gala .
Anthony committed to the cause by spending eight weeks in rehearsals , preparing to perform and raise both funds and awareness for cancer research . His dedication paid off as he personally raised over $ 20,000 , contributing significantly to the charity ’ s efforts .
In addition to being a contestant , Anthony also played a crucial role as the event ' s auctioneer . His skills on the auction floor helped generate tens of thousands more for the charity , making a substantial impact on the evening ' s fundraising efforts .
Performing in front of an audience of 600 people and a panel of celebrity judges , Anthony truly shone on stage .
