BY ISABELLE WALKER was second to none . I ’ ve also seen many Ray White offices and agents go from good to great . People in our industry are really excelling inside this group ; now that I ’ m here I can see why .
From the beach to the Sydney Royal Show , Ray White ’ s equine enthusiasts have a variety of experience . But they all have one thing in common - a love of horses and real estate . Let ’ s get to know Ray White ’ s very own saddle club .
Eddy Piddington just celebrated 20 years in the real estate industry , and has recently moved to Ray White Northern Beaches as its most high profile recruit .
A stalwart in the Northern Beaches real estate scene , Eddy brings a wealth of experience to the team . Eddy has already hit the ground running , selling 17 properties in 12 weeks with a new brand and in a tough market .
We asked Eddy to reflect on his career so far , and why he ’ s excited to join Ray White .
How did you get started in the real estate industry , and what was your first experience like ?
I got started straight out of school at 18 , I wasn ' t great at school ; I ’ d found it boring . I remember saying to my uncle I want to sell cars because I love them and he said “ do you want to be the guy selling the cars or buying the cars ?” I said I want to buy them too . He said go sell real estate . My first job in real estate was in Mosman as a receptionist .
Why did you choose Ray White , and why now ?
Every experience I ’ d had with Ray White as a brand and its staff was amazing . The level of service and care
How do you define success in real estate , and has your definition of success changed over time ?
Success to me looks stress free with balance . I don ’ t think working 12 hour days , seven days a week is success . For me , my goal and vision is around doing more and working less , so focus on working smarter and more efficiently .
What are some of the biggest challenges you faced early in your career , and how did you overcome them ?
Inexperience and lack of knowledge , and talking too much . I overcame them by meeting and training with the best in the business and put in the hours training myself to become better . I always invest and still do in good training and trainers to help me .
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in real estate ?
They have to be prepared to earn the minimum for one to three years . It takes time and dedication , but it ’ s worth it . Work around amazing people ; that ’ s the most important thing , and have fun along the way .

When did you start riding , and how did you get into it ?
I started horse riding three years ago . I always wanted to be around horses , my sister rode when I was younger , and this hobby just allowed me to disconnect with the outside and only focus on being calm .
Do you have any horses of your own ?
I unfortunately don ' t have time to have my own but I ride three horses quite regularly at a school . Their names are Hunter and Phoenix ( ponies / stock horse ) and Mike ( off track thoroughbred ).
What style of riding do you do ?
It really is just for fun , I ride once or twice a week and really just enjoy my time away from my phone . I am an adrenaline junkie so just trying new things each lesson is all I need .
What ' s your favourite place to ride ?
Once a year at least I ride on the beachfront up at Noosa . It ’ s the best trail from bush to beach .
Any tips for people who might want to give it a go ?
Just book in a lesson / trail ride to get a feel for it . Don ' t get caught up in the drama of needing all the right tack / outfits and just go and enjoy yourself .
