A Genius, by Sarah Hodges

An inventor,
With a great beginning legacy,
He led the world through his own imagination,
And almost never failed,
His panache and perseverance,
Seemed to never clash,
Why did it seem as if…
His legacy would never die,
But in a small instant,
The world seemed to cry,
He invented technology that propelled us through time,
And accelerated our knowledge,
That seemed to make us shine,
He named this after a fruit,
The fruit never died,
But in a small instant,
The world seemed to cry,
His knowledge and quizzical attitude,
Changed our lives,
Many people say, “Where would we be without him?”
I’m affected as well,
My school bought new technology,
And it propels us high,
But in a small instant,
The world seemed to cry,
You never know what your mind will create,
But this man did,
He was no ape,
He said with profound words,
“Everything around you that you call life was made up by people no smarter than you.”
These simple words seemed to shoot us far,
And in a short sigh,
That in a small instant,
The world seemed to cry,
Now as we look back,
On his past, so bright,
We understand,
Why he had such a short flight,
He gave all he had,
And then some,
So that we could carry on,
The technological high,
And when he was gone,
The earth DID cry.
