BORONGAN CITY , Eastern Samar ( PIA ) - Provincial Health Officer II Dr . Marian Epefania R . Isiderio was happy about the support shown by stakeholders of health programs of the province during the MOA signing of the multisectoral alliance for kealth as the highlight of the 5th Provincial Annual Health Summit recently at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium , Borongan City .
Led by Eastern Samar Vice-Governor Marcelo Ferdinand Picardal , Barangay Chairpersons , Chiefs of Hospitals , Health Workers , Municipal Health Officers ( MHOs ), Municipal Mayors , and other stakeholders promised to help respond to the health challenges faced by residents of Eastern Samar .
The purpose of this alliance is to heighten the activities and measures of various sectors to get the public out of the poor health status .
This will only be achieved if there is a coordination of the plans from the provincial level to the communities .
Meanwhile , Dr . Jean Marie Egargo , representative of the Department of Health in the province of Eastern Samar , said it is the intention of the Duterte administration that everyone will support the health programs so that everybody will be able to benefit from these programs or “ All for health towards health for all .”

medication as well as to give quality health service in all health facilities of Eastern Samar , and to reduce the number of maternal and infant deaths .
Some of the plans being wished for by DOH and the Provincial Health Office of Eastern Samar is to have a good feedback mechanism regarding health services given to the people .
The implementation of transparency and accountability while giving service be made that the interventions used will be cost-effective and to give quality health services .
These problems will be given solution by the DOH through the support of the PHO if the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage will be heightened , the implementation of Responsible Parenthood , Reproductive Health Law , war against drugs , and the additional fund from the Philippine Amusement and Games Corporation ( PAG- COR ).
Meanwhile , there is a better life after a mental crisis . This is the encouragement emphasized by Llorente Municipal Health Officer Dr . Myra Cecilia Grata during the Provincial Health Summit Dr . Grata represented the Mental Health Program of the Provincial Government through the program that is being implemented in Llorente Rural Health Unit ( RHU ).
According to Grata , LLorente started its Mental Health Program with the help of World Health Organization ( WHO ). It had given trainings regarding the medication , advice , psycho-social intervention , and counselling to public health nurses , school nurses , and social welfare workers .
Under the Duterte administration and through the leadership of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial , the mental health programs of RHU Llorente has come into fruition where many of their patients have been cured and have come back to normal lives . According to Grata in 58 patients in 2014 , where 40 of these are cases of psychosis , 14 have epilepsy ; this has come down to 24 cases of psychosis now . These conditions are triggered by separation from a spouse , problems at school , among others . The cured clients can already help in household chores , some have gone back to school , others have transferred to other places for a new life .
According to Grata , most of the cases that they have handled in Llorente are from 5-10 years already of established psychosis , some of the patients have been detained , chained , and bound but they have been cured as well .
She said patients should not be hidden in shame of this problem . Instead the family should support the patient since the services and medicines in government hospitals and health centers are free .
In Llorente , they visit patients who can ’ t go to centers and they form support groups in the community , hold programs such as the Mental Health Day to open the mind of the public to help a relative with a mental disorder .
Dr . Grata further said that parents should be alert on a child contemplating suicide . They should immediately seek professional help .
There are available trained health workers in the center to advice the parents and the child who has a problem . Grata says that if the child does not go to school for 2-6 weeks , cannot eat , does not want to take a bath , and does not want to go out , this child should be given focus , talked to by parents , and accompanied to the center or to a mental health professional .
According to her , the number one step in curing mental illness is the support of parents . Medication is not enough without the support , love , attention , and payers of the family .
The government also encourages the public to join in removing the social stigma , bad perception and misunderstanding on mental health .
Mental illness is not intentional or wanted by the patient like the other illness affecting humans ; this is not a moral issue or a weakness in the person ’ s character . #

CATBALOGAN CITY , Samar ( PIA )— Philhealth will try to achieve Kalusugang Pangkalahatan or Universal Health Care . These are the words of Melvin Zabala , Philhealth head of office in Samar as he guested in PIA ’ s radio program Huruhimangraw , Wednesday . He said that ‘ All Availl ’ the national government ’ s health program that covers all TS Yolanda victim will fold up this December , 2016 .
“ But the government , both national and LGUs provide funds for everyone ,” he said . In the same radio forum , Irene Tonelete , Accounts Specialist of Philhealth also announced that starting January , she will be posted at the City Hall Business and Licensing Center so that employers can register their workers in the program , while processing their business permits . #
