6 Library Activities New Brighton Library: Have you visited the new temporary New Brighton Library yet? The library in the pier building is closed for earthquake repairs until early 2017. However, we are delighted to tell you that a temporary or ‘pop-up’ library has opened at 60 New Brighton Mall (next to Westpac Bank) which we know will be helpful for the community while the main library is closed. The temporary library has the same hours as the permanent library, 9-6 Monday to Friday, and 10-4 in the weekends. We have a smaller collection of books, but are working to keep it refreshed and well-stocked for the community. We don’t have adult music CDs, ESOL items, jigsaw puzzles, Young Adult talking books, children’s posters or Stories to Go bags in our temporary library, but have all our other categories. You can return items during opening hours and collect reserved items at the temporary library as per normal. You can’t return items to this library outside our opening hours. We don’t have a public toilet in our temporary library, but you can still access the public toilets in the pier library building. We have free wifi, and 10 free computers available for the public. We have our regular preschool programmes: Babytimes 0-2 yrs: 10.30 a.m. Wednesdays during term time. Storytimes 2-5 yrs: 10.30 a.m. Tuesdays during term time. Events for Adults: Technology Help Mondays and Fridays 11am-12 pm: These free drop-in sessions are available to help you get to grips with technology. Come along with your laptop, tablet (iPad or Android), cellphone or smartphone, or use one of our desktop computers. Ask questions and learn how to make technology work for you. Free CV Drop-in sessions: Thursdays 10-11.30am. Librarians will be available to offer basic assistance with creating, updating, editing and printing your CV. No booking required.
