The Voice of Innkeeping Vol 2 Issue 6 January 2018 | Page 9

used to always get a little sad when I said goodbye to the old year I knew. It was familiar I knew it well. I eventually got

over that old way of thinking and now I embrace the new year with everything to look forward to. I’ve decided on a few things: I’m gonna learn more this new year and I’m going to be more technically savvy (which won’t take much!) I’m not going to be fearful of things I don’t have knowledge in! I’m not going to be too busy anymore I’m just gonna be busy at the moment but I’ll get you as soon as I can because that statement has promise just like the new year ahead. We have weathered ups and downs in our industry, storms, fires, floods, short-term rentals and numerous other changes. But we are still here and are always thankful for the opportunity to grow our business. The chance to improve on things and make changes. We are not trees and don’t have to stay in the same place all the time.

This past year I gave up potato chips it’ll be 365 days as of January 2, 2018 yes I sometimes miss them but I don’t miss what they did to me. I treated myself to a massage at least once a month in 2017 I’m going to continue this in the new year. I also added a personal trainer and I lift weights 4-5 times a week, i’m going to continue this. This year I’m going to add one thing and that’s travel to my list of things. I’d like to do at least once and thats not work related!

This is a little something I found on Facebook that we sometimes forget. It’s in my phone and I look at it every now and then to remind myself. I wish all of you a wonderful and prosperous and healthy new year. If you have your health you do have the world!
