Lighting up the world

hat comes into your mind when you hear the phrase, Architectural Lighting? Some might have an image of a castle,

museum, or even a mansion that is beautifully lit up at night and makes the property look like a million or more dollars. Well it’s yes to all of those thoughts, but the surprising fact is; it’s affordably priced! Architectural Lighting is growing very popular in residential neighborhoods all over America thanks to Outdoor Lighting Perspectives owned by Outdoor Living Brands. The company began back in 1995 in Charlotte, NC, where the founder created and developed a landscape lighting business. As with any good idea, it became popular and the company grew. Three years later in 1998 they expanded and started franchising. Today there are 61 Outdoor Lighting Perspectives franchises across America and abroad.

They are successful leaders in residential and

commercial outdoor architectural and

landscape lighting. Outdoor Lighting

Perspectives has completed numerous

hospitality and B&B projects and continues to

focus on this industry. It’s no secret B&B

properties are beautiful but at night lose the

WOW factor as they just don’t standout due to

little or no lighting. Imagine a guest’s reaction

when they arrive at a B&B and see the property

lit up and presented like a grand hotel. No

matter the style of the B&B Outdoor Lighting

Perspectives will create a complementing

lighting design to enhance the unique style of

any property.

The process:

In speaking with Rich Young Vice-President and Brand Leader Outdoor Lighting Perspectives he explained that a project includes three components.

Initial Consultation: Prospective clients discuss their property including unique features, landscape, outdoor living areas as well as what’s important to the owner. The lighting specialists will create a custom lighting design which meets these objectives.

Presentation:

Outdoor Lighting Perspectives can perform a night-time demonstration where they come out and set up a preview of their lighting effect. They incorporate a wireless LED demo kit so prospective clients get to see exactly what the property would look like before and after.

Installation: Once the design is approved the installation takes place and in most cases the work is completed in just 6 to 8 hours, it’s less than a day! Your property can have an amazing makeover that fast! All the work is done by Outdoor Lighting Perspectives as they don’t subcontract out!

How it works:

The company installs a low wattage transformer near an outdoor outlet on the outside of the building and run all the wires to and from that transformer. Rich Young says, “Good lighting should be hidden, you see the effect and don’t see the source!” An average executive home normally takes a 13-unit system and costs approximately $1/day to run the system based on a 6-8 hours of evening illumination and everything is on sensor timers. The system is a very hands-off. For those technical folks that want more control, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives offers a system that can be controlled via an iPhone! Rest assured as the systems are low voltage (12-15 volts) bulbs are typically 5 to 7 watts and very economical. Once installed ‘Set it and forget it!’

Design features include:

Outdoor living spaces like; patios, outdoor kitchens and decks.

Innkeepers concentrate on offering fine linens, lovely amenities and a gourmet breakfast. While system size can vary, the average investment is $3,000-$4,000 and can make a tremendous difference in terms of standing out from the competition and improving guest experience. Taking the results one step further and having the B&B photographed at night and including these new photo assets in all marketing formats makes it easier for guests to recognize the property at night. Innkeepers and guests have peace of mind to know that if they arrive after dark, the property it is well lit, more inviting and safer. That is what this industry is all about making guests comfortable from the moment they arrive!
