B&Bs for Vets is Celebrating a Decade of Donations!

For the tenth year in a row, hundreds of inns and B&Bs will honor active and retired veterans over Veteran's Day with free stays in the U.S and Canada. We estimate that more than $2 million in free stays have been offered to veterans through this program to date.

In the largest known effort within the lodging industry to honor active military and veterans, AIHP is hoping to recruit 1,000 innkeepers in the United States and Canada to open their doors with complimentary stays as a "thank you" to those who are presently serving or served in the past to protect our nation.

All we ask if that you offer one room for a deserving vet. If you wish to offer more rooms or extend the days for free rooms for vets, we applaud your effort. This year Veteran's Day falls on a Saturday, but we believe the holiday will be recognized among those actively serving with a day off on Friday, November 10, 2017. We are encouraging innkeepers to thank a veteran with a free stay at your inn/B&B on November 9, 10 and/or 11, 2017.

To participate, we ask you to email your offer and contact information along with one photo and a 250 -character description of the inn to [email protected]. Please contact us at [email protected] or check http://bandbsforvets.org for innkeeper information and FAQs.

Decluttering is a Way of Life,

Not a One Time Thing

Let your spirit move you. There are times when you’ll be really into decluttering and cleaning out. And when one of those times hits, go with it. You’re hanging onto 12 file drawers full of articles and recipes that you have collected over your career. And guess what? Most stuff now available on the internet, you don’t need to keep yards of paper that your staff or family will one day have to get rid of!

Priorities

When you have a busy B&B business, go easy on yourself. We work way more than 40 hours a week; most of us just don’t have the will to organize our space. It is much more rewarding to take a walk or go to the beach or have dinner with friends. And so—sometimes we never really got organized until we can’t stand it anymore. Trust me on this—life is long. And there will always be time to organize your house. Concentrate on one room at a time. Don’t make a career out of it.
