t’s with great enthusiasm I welcome you to the First issue of The Voice of Innkeeping!
I am not the person I was a year ago, a month ago, a week ago, or even yesterday.
Where you are now is not where you were then. Amen to that. Punch your ticket and move ahead. It’s 2016, for goodness sake. Change is a good thing and all this wisdom isn’t mine, but the experience is and for that I grateful for. Being a part of this new organization AHIP I am thankful and for the year ahead.
If I were asked to predict anything about the next year, there is only one thing I can say with absolute and utter confidence: I will not be the same Mary in a year. You won’t be the same you either.

LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
Change is a good thing. Change never scared me really, it made me hold my breath a few times but I’ve never been impossible or stubborn about it.
Even though I’m a writer, I’m not terribly nostalgic I embrace change and I will even chase it if I have to. I’m high on life and a very positive person and I feel I’ve come home here. AIHP has brought together a bunch of like-minded people, US. This is group of folks who want to succeed and want to continue doing so. I want to rub elbows and learn from them. I’ve learned so much already sometimes I go home after a day of interviewing or story editing and AIHP membership stuff and my head feels like its going to burst not from pain but just sheer new knowledge. I have a lot of questions about pretty much everything. Curiosity is one of my best qualities.
Life is short. I need answers to tough questions. Now I only want to invest in the people who aren’t afraid to answer them. The writer in me is happiest observing. The extrovert wants to get in the mix. The best way to describe my job is “I have the privilege of telling someone else’s story” And that is the biggest compliment one can get! It’s priceless.
Fake it until you make it? No way. Make it so you don’t have to fake it.
Hello 2016.
