When collecting materials for a garland, you’ ll want to choose branches in several shades of green. Also pick a variety of textures and leaf shapes to keep it interesting. For this tutorial, we challenged ourselves to forage all the materials, and chose pine, spruce, sage, ivy, boxwood, and Russian olive.
You’ ll also need a sharp pruners or scissors, paddle wire, and jute or twine.
For this project, you’ ll want a decent-sized work surface and plenty of elbow room. Prepare all your branches by trimming them down to about 8 inches or so. Cut a piece of jute the length you wish to make your garland plus a foot extra for each end.
