bedtime? I think that is how a lot of us think of prayer… but think of it this way—what if all you ever said to your parents every day was a rehearsed script of , “Good Morning, Dad” and, “Good morning, Mom” in the mornings, and in the evenings “Good night, Mom and Dad” ??? There would be no relationship at all, you wouldn’t know who they are, what they enjoy, their history, you wouldn’t even know their age! In a way, that is how we are treating our relationship with our Heavenly Father when we only pray a rehearsed script to Him. He desires so much more from us! Every day, I pray for everyone who means a lot to me, and I kinda have it in a script, but I don’t think that is a bad thing. We should pray for everyone who means a lot to us, but once you do that, you should be communing with the Lord all day long, telling Him your dreams, thanking Him for the wonders of His creation, praying for things that come up, and so on. That is what I am practicing and trying to get into the habit of; like when I look out the window and see the beautiful blue sky, I thank the Lord for that beautiful day. Listen to these verses, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 NKJV) I think I just heard it say, “Pray without ceasing”, didn’t you? That is what we should do! If we tell the Lord everything like we tell our other friends, our relationship with Him will really blossom! Once you have done these things, you will have begun the best and most rewarding friendship you will ever experience in your whole life! I hope I have helped and encouraged someone out there; begin that relationship with the Lord, your life will never be the same. God bless you all!
