Page 2 The Charbonneau Villager February 2014 CCC Report Charbonneau Country Club President GENE PRONOvOST Here's "What I love about Charbonneau" . . . from the CCC Board Directors. The thing that makes Charbonneau so special is the true sense of community. This is a place filled with people who care about each other and the place they live. We tend to think this is something found in many places, but I think the depth of this experience is especially profound in Charbonneau. While we may have differing opinions about specific issues, it is not for lack of concern and passion. It is this sense of commitment to community that my wife, Roberta, and I love most about Charbonneau. Gene Pronovost, President My wife, Bernie, and I love the warm and friendly people in Charbonneau and their willingness to reach out and make our community a great place to live. Few places have its citizens as engaged in their community as we are in Charbonneau. And, of course, Charbonneau is a beautiful place to live with the trees, the golf course and its overall design. Steve Perry, Vice-president When I moved to Charbonneau, I came for the golf and a retirement home. But, having lived here for about seven years, I have to admit that I have fallen in love with the place. Part of the beauty of playing golf is the course, and it (the course) delivers not only at play but from my home. But over time, the beauty of the place is enjoyed whenever I walk the community. It is just a very pleasant experience. Then, there are the people who live here. I have lived in a number states and communities, but Charbonneau is the Where beauty meets safety Transform your bathroom into a comfortable, safe environment with a Jacuzzi® Walk-In Bathtub. • Retain your independence at home • Therapeutic and safe with non-slip surface • Easy to clean low maintenance, mold resistant • Complete factory certified installation Contact your local dealer for a FREE in-home consultation. Consequently, Charbonneau is no longer just a retirement community with a golf course, but for me and my wife, Laraine, it's home. Peter Vazzana, Treasurer Bob and I moved to Charbonneau because I retired and he still worked in Salem. This location cut his commute in half. We planned to fix our house up to sell when he retired and move up to the Puget Sound area with our boat. We did not expect two things: how wonderful the community was and how having grandchildren would change how far we were willing to be from our family. We have fallen in love with this community and plan to stay. We have been here 10 years and have never lived anywhere where people are so friendly and go out of their way to help anyone. It feels like we are living in a resort with the beautiful landscape and golf course. The safety and security of the area is important. We do not worry about traveling and always look forward to returning home. We really enjoy the community atmosphere! June Henry, Secretary For me, Charbonneau is home. It is the perfect blend of friendly neighbors and beautiful surroundings. I live next to the walking route and enjoy the friendly hellos of those out for a walk. She recently spent time getting the CCC library back into tip-top shape after its renovation. Volunteers Make Things Happen!
