The Charbonneau Villager Page 23 December 2013 Holiday Tips, Treats, Romps and Fun at Wilsonville Community Center City of Wilsonville Community Center Patty Brescia Eating Healthy Tips for the Holidays Here are some tips for eating a little healthier during the holidays: Eat a healthy, small meal before a party. In other words, do not go hungry to a party if you are trying to lose weight. If you know you are going to treat yourself later, have a good breakfast. Don’t rush to eat. Socialize and settle into the festivities before you eat. Drink a glass of water when you arrive and in between alcoholic beverages. This will help you stay hydrated and help you to resist the urge to over imbibe. Try not to socialize near the buffet table, this will minimize unconscious nibbling. Just as important is to keep moving; exercise will help to burn calories and helps to lower stress. The Holidays are about enjoying what we have, which is our family and friends. Community Center Holiday Meal Deck the Halls and come on down to the Center for some holiday cheer! Join us for festive music and good times with friends at the Community Center at noon on Friday, December 20 for a traditional holiday meal. The party starts at Foundation's Third Annual Fundraiser Helps Library By Joan Vedder The Wilsonville Public Library Foundation held it's third annual "Evening of Imagination" invitational fund raising dinner on Saturday, October 19. One hundred and twenty guests were in attendance for a fun-filled evening with Scott Anderson volunteering as the master of ceremonies. Scott is a magician who wowed attendees. Dinner guests were also entertained by a great little jazz group called Calamity Jazz. Thanks to the generosity of over 40 local businesses, a Silent Auction was a huge part of our evening. There was a wonderful cornucopia of items to bid on. Hilly Alexander, board president, gave a short welcoming speech and introduced guest speaker Kimberly Howard from the Oregon Cultural Trust (OCT). Ms. Howard explained how a donation to both the Library and the OCT can benefit the Foundation even further. Bullwinkle’s Family Fun Center as soon as the race is over.
