Area High Schools Compete to Raise Funds for Local Charity Page 15 Arlington HS Players of the Game By Hannah Smith A high school rivalry takes their competition to a whole new level. Links of Luv is a fundraising competition between Bolton High School and Arlington High School to see who can raise the most money for a local non-profit organization called Habitat for Hope. Habitat for Hope provides practical and emotional care for families who have to come to the local area because their child requires care at one of the local hospitals. These families have come to the area not knowing anyone and nt having many resources and Habitat for Hope comes along-side the families to support them while they are going through a rough time and do not have other support. This is the first year for Links of Luv. The competition was started by a few IB students at Bolton High School. These students volunteer with Habitat for Hope and they wanted to go above and beyond to do something to help this amazing organization. The two schools will each be fundraising individually and at the football game on October 4, 2013, the winner of the competition will be revealed and all of the money raised will be presented to Habitat for Hope. This rivalry is a different rivalry because the competition is not about what is in it for the teens themselves. This competition is all about the teens raising money for families who need it. The teens are giving back and making a difference while having fun and having a little healthy rivalry.
