Volleyball Served Up at AMS!
The Arlington Middle School
Volleyball program kicked off its
inaugural season when the first ever
school-sponsored clinic and tryouts were
held in May. With approximately 70
girls trying out, AMS was able to select
three teams (A, B, and D) comprised of
6 th , 7 th , and 8 th graders, coached by Sarah
Harris, Jennifer Beasley, Claudia Wade,
and Anna Kranz. Building on the
foundation established with the Arlington
Volleyball Club, led by Courtney
Drissell, AMS was ready to make the
move creating a school-sponsored team
this year. With a mission to foster the
strong volleyball culture in Arlington and
reinforce the always-solid AHS
volleyball program led by Coach
Rebekah Sanders, AMS was excited to
begin this season.
The teams began practicing in late
July to prepare for a season that would
have them playing other teams in the

municipality districts: Lakeland Prep,
Bon Lin, Appling, Elmore Park,
Houston, Schilling Farms, and
Collierville. The A and B teams
participated in a Briarcrest tournament in
late August and both A and B took 3 rd
place in the silver brackets. This
tournament helped prepare the Lady
Bobcats for district play throughout the
year. The A-Team’s records overall
record is 10-6; the B-Team’s overall
record is 4-9; and the D-Team’s record is
8-2.
The A and B-teams play host to the
Region 7 Tournament during the
weekend of September 29-30, with the
winner moving on to the State
tournament in Jackson the following
weekend. The coaches are proud of this
amazing group of girls and know the
future will continue to look bright for
AMS Volleyball.
The Arlington Middle
School Soccer program
kicked off its first-ever
season for girls in grades 6-
8. Tryouts for the team
were held last May, and the
girls began their season in
early August. The team has
played other teams in the
municipality districts as
well as some area private
schools. Although they
were defeated in the first
round of the district
tournament, Coach Chris
Kaldon praised the girls for
their grit and determination.

outcome, the players
always left it all out on the
field. Coah Kaldon hates to
see the eighth graders move
on to high school, but he is
also very excited about the
future of the program and
the strong core of 6 th and 7 th
graders that will lead the
team next year. He is also
looking forward to kicking
off the season for the boys
first-ever AMS soccer team
next spring.
