The Bolton High School StageLight Theatre production of Zombie Prom received 14 Nominations for the Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards , including Outstanding Overall Production .
Modeled after the Tony™ Awards and now in its eighth year , the High School Musical Theatre Awards recognize achievements in all areas of high school musical theatre . This event is part of the Jimmy Awards , the National High School Musical Theatre Awards program which includes 30 programs from across the country .
The Orpheum welcomes any high school within a 100-mile radius who meets the eligibility requirements as a participant in the program . Each submitted musical goes through an adjudication process where community judges attend the high school productions . The HSMTA judges are arts professionals within the Memphis community specializing in performance , directing , sound and lighting design , costume design and music orchestration and direction .
The year of High School Musicals concludes in a celebration of the passion , dedication , and energy of all students and teachers involved in producing musical theatre . Participants gather at the historic Orpheum Theatre for a night of performance and awards presentation . As a Nominee for Outstanding Overall Production , students from Bolton will be performing a musical number from the show during the awards ceremony . In addition , acting awards nominees Asia
Smith ( Outstanding Lead Actress , Ms Strict ) and Ellie Armitage ( Outstanding Supporting Actress , Ginger ) will also be performing onstage .

Arlington High School is proud to announce that senior Luke Patterson has signed a scholarship to continue his baseball career next year at Bethel University .
The coaching staff at Arlington says that “ Luke has worked very hard both on the field as well as in school to help make this dream come true . Thanks to Bethel University for giving him this opportunity , and to Luke for your 4 years of service to Arlington High school and the baseball program .”

Briarcrest Senior Megan Cheng of Lakeland will be attending Oklahoma City University next fall to study in Music in the Wanda Bass School of Music with musical theatre studies and premed emphasis .
Of the 600-700 auditionees , only 3-5 % are accepted into the Wanda Bass School of Music at the university . Oklahoma City University is a coeducational , urban private university located in Oklahoma City , in the Uptown district .
Megan was also selected by faculty members as one of Briarcrest High School Who ' s Who for 2017 based on scholarship , character , leadership , service to school and community .
